A well-known Pune builder was shot dead by two unidentified assailants outside his residence on Prabhat road in Deccan area late night on Saturday.
According to the police, attackers fired five rounds of bullets of which two hit Devendra Shah, the owner of Ambika Group, a real estate firm based out of the city.
The 56-year-old builder lived in lane number 7 on Prabhat Road with his family.

Additional commissioner of police Ravindra Sengaonkar said, “The incident took place at around 11 pm on Saturday. Two unidentified attackers reached his residence and waited outside a laundry shop that is located right outside his home. The attackers talking with the laundry shop owner and persisted that he call Shah outside his house. The laundry owner called up Shah and informed him that two persons were calling him out.”
“Without sensing any danger, Shah with his 29-year-old son stepped outside his house and asked the duo why he was called. The duo entered into conversation with him and as they walked few steps away from where Shah’s son was standing, the duo took out firearms and shot five rounds at him,” Sengaonkar said.
Soon after the firing, the attackers fled away from the spot while Shah’s son along with other relatives rushed him to a private hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, police are now checking the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the lane to get some clues. “We have got some clues through CCTV footage and now we are verifying it. The attackers had not covered their faces and they were conversing,” Sengaonkar said.
